Vesuvio Pasta was established in 2001, born from a passion for authentic, artisan handmade pasta.
Gianni Sportiello, together with his wife Monica and his parents Nick and Giovanna, recognised a demand in the market for genuine Italian pasta made with love and tradition.
Originally hailing from Napoli, Italy, Gianni and his family migrated to Australia in 1990. Gianni honed his culinary skills as a chef in some of the finest Italian restaurants before turning his attention to creating pasta.
The very first Vesuvio ravioli were crafted in 2001, combining traditional Italian techniques with the highest quality Australian produce. Soon, Vesuvio’s range expanded to include ravioli, agnolotti, scialatielli, and, of course, hand-cut gnocchi—staples that continue to define our daily production.

Over the years, Vesuvio’s hard work has paid off.
What started as a small operation serving a handful of restaurants has grown into a thriving business supplying pubs, hotels, and food markets across Western Australia and beyond.
From a few kilos each week to thousands, Vesuvio has scaled up production while staying true to its artisan roots, continuing to make pasta just as it was made many years ago.

As Vesuvio has grown, so too has the Sportiello family business.
While Gianni’s parents have happily retired, the company continues to thrive, expanding year by year while maintaining the service and quality that comes from being a small family-run business.
Vesuvio Pasta, alongside our sister companies La Bottega Della Pasta and Zero Glutine, is now proud to offer our beloved pastas directly to you, the local Perth community, using the same cherished recipes passed down through generations.
